The Parkinson's Road Podcast
I am no expert by any means of the word, but I don’t believe you need to be in order to help others. My goal is to simply share knowledge & Information. I want other people with Parkinson’s to know they are not alone, that there are things they can do to improve their situation and live a improved version of their life with pd and help them be informed about their Parkinson’s so that they can advocate for their own care and lead more empowered lives. In helping others, I am helping myself. This podcast is me moving outside of my comfort zone and challenging myself to expand my own horizons. Now you might ask why I would want to do that. How can I expect to help others to change and evolve if I am not willing to myself?

Happy New Year! I am back at it. I don't know about you but I have to take medication to manage my symptoms enough so that I can function, and with medications come side effects. One class of medications used in the management of Parkinson's Disease has some pretty complex and potentially upsetting side effects, Dopamine Agonists. They act like dopamine in the brain and can cause patients to behave differently than they normally would. Not everyone will develop these side effects, for many of us they are a very beneficial treatment option. But I believe that by understanding the risks of taking these medications empowers us as patients and empowered patients have better outcomes!
